Bartholomew Garelli Project
The Bartholomew Project was born from CDBS school's mission and vision toward marginalized youth. The discussion among educators, learners, and administrators about a sustainable project to support marginalized youth ignited the idea of creating a structured program to support marginalized youth in our public school system.
Through the initiatives of the dedicated team of educators, learners, and parents, the Bartholomew Project was officially launched in 2019, focusing on sustainable educational programs that prioritize the unique needs of marginalized youth.
In history, Don Bosco met a homeless boy named Bartholomew in a church, and this led to the creation of a special youth club called the Oratory. Every Sunday and on special days, the boys would gather for games, religious lessons, and church services. This led Don Bosco to start a ministry to help young people learn about God.
The project was named after Bartholomew, a figure symbolizing perseverance and hope. This name reflects CDBS's commitment to uplifting students who strive to overcome challenges in their educational journeys.
